Well this week has been poop. I knew it before I got on the scale, and I know it now that I got off. I gained... not nearly as much as I thought I would, but I still gained. I'm up 1.5 lbs. I have a lot of reasons as to why I gained. I'm not using them as excuses- I know it was my fault, but its better than sitting here going "I have no idea what I did wrong!!"
This week I was visited by AF, my husband was gone and I was very lonely. I ate pizza, burger king AND Easter Candy. So now not only did I gain weight but I have to replace the candy that I ate (it was for my daughter's basket)!!
I also got my bloodwork back this week. Not good, but not horrible. My blood pressure was up the first time they checked but well within normal range the second time. They want to re-check again this week coming. And then my bad cholesterol is high and my good cholesterol is low... nice. Exactly the opposite of what I need, but exactly what I thought. So thats even more motivation to get to work! The doctor says she does not beleive that I need to be medicated as the numbers are really not that bad. She said that with diet and exercise that these numbers will come down on their own, and in three months I should be tested again. So thats my goal, lose as much weight between now and then... In June I will get re-evaluated.
As I go into this next week I've got a few things planned. First off, my husband comes home today after being gone for 25 days for predeployment training. This is both a blessing and a hinderance, lol. In the past my weight loss efforts have failed because I feel bad for him- he eats like me to help me lose weight. However, I swear that I will NOT let that be a problem for the next two months before deployment. We are going to grill out whenever the weather is nice. I'm also going to invest in veggie burgers and turkey burgers. We will see which we like best because burgers are a big spring/summer staple in my house! Also to cut down on bills we are using all of the things in the house before we replace them. Which is GREAT because we will be moving home in May so we need to get it all out of here!! To help lower my cholesterol I'm eating oatmeal every day for breakfast... I'm praying it works & we have a bunch in the house that we need to get rid of, so thats motivation all its own, lol.
Now for some GOOD news from this week. I tried on a coat my mother bought me for my 21st birthday (just a few months before I got pregnant with my first- Taylor). It fit me then, but not well. It was a little tight in the arms. It fits me really, really well right now! I'm stoked! Also I tried on some clothes that I bought in January after I had Peyton.. I wasn't sure what size I would wear and I bought them online so I couldn't try them on. When they came in NONE of them fit me, sadly! However, I tried them on this week and they ALL fit. The shirts show a little more "belly bumps" than I would like, so I still have more to lose before I'll be comfortable wearing them, but thats not the point... the point is THEY FIT!
So this is all not in vain! Even though I gained this week things are looking good.
Now its time to get back on track, brush off my hands and knees after falling and get back out there. I am making it my goal to lose DOUBLE my weight gain this week- thats 3 lbs. Modest comparing to the fact that I've lost 6.5 for two weeks in a row then gained my 1.5 this week, but hey... baby steps!

Week 7 Weigh In
Okay... so this week it was FREAKING cold here in Germany. For this reason I didn't get any walks in... I can't bring myself to take my 2 y/o and my newborn out into snowy, below freezing weather. And I know its just an excuse but I'm sticking to it! :-)
But this week I did the normal WW diet, didn't ever go over my daily points and didn't use any of my weekly points. I also did Alli and kept my fat intake to under 15 grams per meal.... and it paid off! I lost 5.5 lbs! Bring my total on WW to 25.5 lbs AND my total 2010 weight loss to 57.5 lbs... Only 1.3 more pounds to go til I've lost 10% of my starting weight (for when I started WW).
And only 10 more days til hubby comes back from training!!! YAY!

Week 6 Weigh In
I changed my weigh in day to Saturday because my husband has officially been gone a week today for some pre-deployment training. This has been a major motivator for me! I have done better this week for my weight & health than I ever have, and I mean EVER. I tend to get depressed & stay home a lot when my husband leaves for training. But that was so not the case this week.
This week I took the first steps to take control of my life & my health. I made an appointment with my PCP for a physical and psychiatrist for my hormonal changes since pregnancy. I went to my PCP and talked about my weight, my high blood pressure & my health history (gestational diabetes with both pregnancies) & family's health history. My father has high blood pressure & cholesterol and so does his whole family (my uncle even had a heart attack at a very early age.) And both of my Grandfathers' have diabetes.
My PCP thinks its GREAT that I am trying to get ahead of the game and also said that I was pretty stupid to have a second child when I had and have all the issues listed above. (I beg to differ, but whats done is done and I have TWO beautiful baby girls now.)
My blood pressure is still high, but that was without medication. The doctor prescribed me a blood pressure pill & a water pill to help control the blood pressure. She also had a few suggestions to help with the weight loss. Apparently on post there is a Wellness Center & a dietitian. The Wellness Center will help calculate your metabolism & teaches a class on ways help boost it through out the day. The dietitian will help point me in the right direction as to what foods I should be eating/avoiding to help me steer clear of possible diabetes later in life.
I also told the doctor about my weight loss & my goals. She suggested trying Alli in conjunction with Weight Watchers. She said that since I am already accustomed to the low fat diet that adding Alli should not cause me any of the "treatment effects" that it causes some (the uh-oh bathroom issues!) Oh and the doctor also said that Weight Watchers is, in her opinion, the BEST weight loss program out there!
The psychiatrist prescribed monthly counseling & an anti-anxiety medication to hopefully calm down my mood swings since they have become WAY more than just normal PMS.
And then on to my dieting for the week.... I made it my goal for this week (well month really) to never go over my daily points allowance and not to touch my weekly points allowance... and if I did (which I did once- that spaghetti was sooo good....) I would work out to put whatever points I took out of my weekly allowance back. I don't need my weekly points allowance. I use them when my husband is home because once a week we like to go out to dinner & it is very nice to not have to worry about how many points I'm using for that one meal. But since he is gone I have elected to not use those points.
I also worked out a BUNCH this week. The weather was decently nice the first few days- highs in the mid 40's, so I bundled up my two babies, grabbed the stroller from the shed and went for a walk! One day we walked up to the commissary to do some shopping then treated ourselves to lunch @ Subway, the next day we walked with our friends to the playground & let the babies play for almost an hour and then the next day we walked to the CMR & then walked the entire bike path around post.... it took us over two hours, but man was it worth it.
And my numbers for the week are...... I'm DOWN! Way down. Good bye 250's!! I've lost 20 lbs on WW thus far & 6 1/2 pounds this week alone. My goal for while my husband was gone was to lose 10 lbs- well I've only got 3 1/2 half left to go!! I really think that maybe my goal should be to lose 20 lbs!
So... weight loss 2010 ytd is 52 lbs, weight loss on ww is 20 lbs... now with the addition of Alli we shall see if I lose more weight this coming week. It claims to be able to help you lose 50% more weight... well we shall see... :-)
